Salem, NY-Bertha J. Roberts, 92, of Salem, passed away Friday morning, January 8, 2010 at her residence. Born November 25, 1917 in West Rupert, VT, she was the daughter of the late Jay E. and Calista (Morehouse) Wilson, Sr. Bert attended school in West Rupert and had worked for Lewis Bros. in West Rupert for many years. She then worked at Jack's Restaurant in Cambridge working in the kitchen. Bert loved to bake and was known around the village of Salem for her baked goods and would give them to many people in the village. Bert loved to walk and had a special route in the village that she would travel everyday. She was married to Harold Coulter on November 22, 1945, he passed away September 30, 1955. She later married Thomas Roberts on June 12, 1962, he passed away on March 3, 1968. Bert is survived by her brother, Jay E. Wilson, Jr. of West Rupert, VT and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers, Clifford Wilson and James Wilson; her sisters, Mary Lourie, Clara Bentley and Lillian Carlton. Funeral services will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in the spring and will be announced.
