Mission, TX-Helen L. Lathrop, 74, of Mission, TX, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 23, 2010 at the McAllen Medical Center Hospital in McAllen, TX.  Born April 9, 1935 in Cambridge, NY, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Elizabeth (White) Cordier.  Mrs. Lathrop graduated from Salem Washington Academy in Salem, NY and the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Troy, NY.  She received her certification as a nurse practioner from the Margaret Sangor Institute in New York City.  She had worked as a nurse at the Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, NY and also worked as a nurse practioner for Planned Parenthood in Granville, NY, Glens Falls, NY and surrounding areas as well.  She enjoyed sewing and singing in her church choir.  She was a member of the Freightliner Haulers Club and a life member of the Vermont Society of Mayflower Descendants.  She was a member of the Newman United Methodist Church in Shushan, NY and also a member of the Hidden Valley Ranch Church in Mission, TX.  She and her husband maintained a home in Alaska and also in Mission, TX. 

In addition to her parents, she was also pre-deceased by her first husband, Albert Snow who passed away in 1961; a brother, George Cordier who passed away in 2001 and a granddaughter, Raechel Lathrop who passed away in 2009.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Raymond F. Lathrop; her children, Lois Pedrick and her husband Robert of Lumberton, NJ, Jeff Snow and his wife Kathy of Shushan, NY and Gregory Snow and his companion Stacy Redmond of Bushnell, FL; her step-children, Raymond “Skip” Lathrop, Jr. and his companion, Josephine Mosher of Salem, Steven Lathrop and his wife Gina of Bushnell, FL, Robert Lathrop and his wife Darlene of Malta, NY and Diane Lathrop and her husband Jeff Darrah of Ft. Collins, CO.  She is also survived by her twin sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Smith of Shushan, NY and ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Newman Methodist Church, Rtes. 61 & 64, Shushan.  Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Salem on Sunday June 27, 2010 at 2 pm.
